Anyone Else Have Trouble Getting A Part Time Job Because Of Your Stutter? Obviously some jobs will require fluent speech so a stutter might be a problem there. Jobs like 911 operators or someone who needs to do a lot of presentations or talk a lot. So the common sense thing to do would be to get a job where even a severe stutter won't interfere with your work - Like a programmer, or an artist, architect, engineer, scientist, so many possibilities. But what about part time jobs when you're a student? When you're studying, those are your only option. I feel like almost every part time job out there requires you to have excellent customer service skills. No matter what job position I look at, whether its a position at a fast food joint or a supermarket....all of them say the same thing - Excellent customer service skills and be a people person. I feel like no one will hire me because of my stutter. Has anyone else been in the same position? What did you do? Isn't this discrimination?
