I used to stutter alone or even on imaginary conversations, but it was on rare occasions. I had an experience in college when I was trying to make a video presentation for my class. I knew exactly what I had to say and I could say it aloud without a problem. However, once I started recording, I couldn’t say a word. Maybe it was the anticipation of knowing that everyone in my class was going to watch the presentation. I couldn’t process how I went from fluent to stutter when the only physical element different was the little red light from the video camera and knowing that it was recording. This event, however, opened my eyes since it was obvious that there was some psychological game involved in my stutter and I could work on it.
