My first grade teacher thought I was stupid because I couldn’t read a book out loud in class so she frog marched me back to the kindergarten class and told the teacher to do a better job. My parents raised hell at my school and got them to bring a speech therapist in. This was all in the early 80s when special Ed was just becoming a thing.
