Thanks for clarifying! I can't remember, in the video did he say that he stutters severely? If so I can understand how that's difficult for PWS who show way more stuttering moments than he does. If he did say that, I imagine he's referring to how the experience of stuttering feels to him in terms of impact (similar to what many people with "mild" stuttering would say) , or maybe he hasn't met a lot of others who stutter/become involved in the community and thus doesn't realize how wide the severity spectrum is. Also, it's hard for us to say exactly how much of his fluency is spontaneous vs. effortful, as lots of effortful fluency can make communication really difficult (although certainly not the same as severe stuttering, to your point). There are some islands of relative fluency in his talk here, but I noticed enough stuttering that I imagine a speaker who didn't know anything about it would catch it. I know someone who met him once and heard him stutter then as well, so he definitely isn't presenting as fluent to everybody. I'm definitely with you in hoping that we can have individuals in positions like this who stutter even more! I'm all for that too. I think the "win" here is that he's a PWS who isn't talking about stuttering in the past tense and shows his stuttering in public speaking situations, even though we don't see it clearly all the time. I hope that makes sense; I don't want to invalidate your thoughts so I hope it doesn't sound like it!
