You’d be surprised what a good sp can do for you. I’m 26, and went through what you’re going through now. At this point in your life, you will start to notice that you will go through periods where your fluency fluctuates. Some months, you will be nigh-perfect. Others, you will want to die of shame. There’s no exact science to explain all the causative forces at play here, but generally it will correlate with overall stress levels in your life. There is, however, a way to alleviate those hellish times when your fluency takes a dip. You’ll want to learn and practice some fluency techniques. There are a whole lot of them, like trying gentle onset, warming articulators, etc. To learn these, you will want to meet with a good speech pathologist. This will be probably the most difficult part, as speech pathology is incredibly poorly regulated. Personally, I’ve had over a dozen horrible sp’s and only two good ones. But those good ones made the world of difference, literally changing my life. Best of luck, my friend. It’ll be hard, but you can do it.
