I understand exactly how you feel. I'm 44 and I hated saying my name in high school or other places. It's a shame we feel but it's not the stutter, it's what we think others see us. I still stutter but over time, I've learned to control it, for the most part. With treatment, relaxation techniques, but what really helps me the most is being open about my stuttering from the get go. It does reduce my anxiety a lot and feel more comfortable with my speech. As hard as it sounds, just continue to progress and it does get better and surround yourself with people that care and love you! Also, my 10 year old son stutters and I LOVE HIM TO PIECES!! HE IS AMAZING! As a person that stutters and having a son that stutters, please tell your parents everything that you are feeling and mental health services are always a positive, not only for people that stutter.
