I tried Abilify (Aripiprazole) As dopamine-antagonist seems to be the most helpful drug for stuttering, i give aripiprazole a try. I got it prescribed for tourette syndrome, which i also have. I started with 5mg. The anxiolytic and antidepressive effect is enormous. After one day taking it i notice a big improvement in my anxiety-levels when it comes to speech-situation. Unfourtantly, my speech itself was unaffected and my tics reduced only of about 10%. So after 3 days i increased the dose rapidly to 20mg, which is a lot and also very stupid. I hoped to feel some effect on my speech to find a relationship between dopamine and stuttering. Of course, side effects were kicking hard and the restlessness was ENORMOUS. It got better day after day. My tourette is completely gone, tics are redcued 99%. However, there is still no effect on speech. I think i stutter even more and have more repetition than blocks compaired to before the treatment. Maybe this is because im less anxious in speech situations and didnt care that much if someone notice my stuttering. But i cant explain why i now have mainly repetitions instead of blocks. After about 3 weeks being on Aripiprazole, i find absolutly no influence on my speech. Everything is the same as before.
