Hello. I'm sorry you've suffered so greatly. My stutter prevented me from pursuing my life career goals. I was fortunate to have married a professional and never had to depend upon a career after University. I understand your frustration at being marginalized and judged for this one characteristic. The assumption that stutterers are generally defective and incapable of ‘normal’ careers and relationships is contrary to observation. Because of social isolation and introversion and reticence in oral communication, stutterers often find a place in science and technology decrying the stereotype of mental incapacity. I'm rambling but: It's so great you live in the UK! The UK has a program called Stammer School. I'll send you the link to a video on YouTube. Even stutterers who were unable to even say their names were successfully treated in a one-weekend program. It is amazing. As a former stutterer, it was wonderful to me that there was this amazing, totally life-altering treatment. I wish I'd been able to avail myself of this so many years ago, though I'm fully recovered and verbal at 70 since my psychological therapy dealt with my traumatic childhood. The link to the miraculous treatment in the UK video is: Darn! I can't get out of Reddit to access it. But if you go to ‘Real Stories Stammer School’ on Youtube you'll find it. The NHS is providing this. If you're unable to find the Youtube video ill have downloaded the link to find you later today. Best of luck. You have my support. Please keep in touch. Sue
