This is my attempt to summarize the authors *"stutter mechanism"*: **Stuttering onset:** *Early phase*: We produce easy, part word repetitions with no tension. *Advanced stutter phase*: We become more self-aware of our communicative differences, and receive negative reactions to stuttering, our body might naturally react by blocking in response to (anticipating) stuttering in hopes of avoiding the moment of stuttering (blocking is a learned response). **Vicious cycle of stuttering:** 1. (Anticipating) stuttering (often without being aware of it in non-pressured situations) 2. Our subconscious will do anything it can to avoid the moment of stuttering 3. Fight-flight-freeze (in this case, freeze) response from the amygdala activates due to fear of stuttering 4. Secondaries such as tension in the vocal chords 5. Manifestation: Speech blocks
