Discover The Fluency That Lays Hidden In Your Stutter (January 1st edition) Hey fellow stutterer, Happy New Year! Doesn’t it seem like everyone says “I can’t believe it’s 2023 already!” Well, I can. And likely so can you. Because 2022 wasn’t the greatest of years, right? If we’re telling the truth, last year was a painful year. # Who Else Wants To Make 2023 Their Best (aka Least Painful) Year Yet? Ok, here’s the deal: I’m going to post a daily heart-centered authentic message aiming to inspire you, to make you feel a little better about your situation, about where you are. I’m Craig Coffee, I stuttered for over 20 years, then found a unique way to beat stuttering on my own, and live a fluent lifestyle. # A Note To Naysayers and Negative People Naysayers are going to try and drag you away from positive change. They want to keep you safe and prevent you from taking any risks. From getting hurt. What they fail to see is that it’s painful to stay the *same*. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expect different results. So you see, change is good. Change can reduce your stutter, reduce your pain, make you feel better about life. Make you happier. # Why Does Positive Change Start With One Small Step? The key to starting with one small step is that your trying to create positive change healthy habits. So, in order to create a new habit, we start small. One small step per day. To spark positive change, you need to add new positive habits. But how do you create a new habit? And how do you choose which new habit to do? Here are a few ideas: * Better sleep * Feel better about your life * Discover your passion * Love yourself more * Increased happiness * Weight loss This is just a sampling, and I have experience in all of these areas. I speak a lot, obviously, about reducing stuttering to the point of living a fluent lifestyle. So, if reducing stuttering is the goal, you can take active, small steps. Remember, you are working on most likely a lifelong stutter, so overnight results is not what I’m offering. Wanna reduce your stutter? Here are my foundational building blocks for what’s worked for my long term fluency: * Love yourself more * Practice talking to strangers (my “1-A-Day-Challenge”) * Learn to enjoy talking to people * Understand positive self-talk and incorporate into your life * Reflect on your current belief patterns, and learn how to reprogram your mind with positive belief patterns * Get exercise! Finding physical outlets for stress, etc helps overall wellbeing * Boost the healthiness of your diet * Understand Emotional Intelligence * Become an optimist! * Volunteer and give back to others with your time, help, food, money, et All of the above can be started with *one* small step. Let’s say your goal for 2023 is to reduce your stutter. Chose one of my key fluency building blocks to start with: Want to love yourself more? Ok, I’ll give you the first step I took on my own personal journey as I invented my own proprietary method of reducing my own stutter to the point that new friends I meet nowadays (and I meet people all the time because I’m consistently talking to strangers… I practice what I teach) have no idea I ever stuttered! Check out my videos on [www.youtube.com/@realcraigcoffee](https://www.youtube.com/@realcraigcoffee) which talk about how I beat my stutter and you can too! What I did first was: 1. An honest assessment of myself. I’m not embarrassed to share what I did, especially since I found this to be super helpful in the long run. I looked at myself in the mirror, standing in just workout shorts. I had gained over 40 pounds since I met my wife. In other words, in less than 10 years I got fat! I felt two feelings when I saw my fat belly hanging over my shorts. There’s no hiding the truth when you can see your own flab. I didn’t love the person looking back at me in the mirror. I didn’t look like the person I used to, and I would drown my sad feelings in cookies and ice cream and other desserts at night. I used to eat a bunch of dessert every night. The second thing I felt was a big, giant kick in the a$$! I was disgusted with the weight I put on, and I had this intuitive feeling that I wanted to be happier with my appearance. And that very day looking in the mirror was the day I decided to change my appearance. Tomorrow is January 2nd and I’m going to post a new, heartfelt inspirational message everyday in the month of January. Talk to you tomorrow. Your friend, Craig P.S.
