I just had an interview Wednesday. I stuttered moderately through the whole thing. It was a server position in a senior living community. The interview itself was pretty straightforward, just asked what I thought I could bring to the place and if I wanted full/part time before giving me paperwork to fill out. Mostly it was just me listening to the interviewer about the job. After I was done with the paperwork she asked me about my stutter and if it'd be a problem. My answer? "Nope, I've had it for the past 13 years and been serving customers at my other job for about a year. I don't let it bother me too much." The irony ofc is that I stuttered though most of that response. Just don't let it phase you and during job interviews tell them about your stutter right then and there and that it is not a problem. Don't think into it too much if they ask you about your stutter. It is standard procedure to ask about something that may seem to need extra assistance in the workplace. Like if an interviewer had a prosthetic limb. The interviewer would have to ask if that would hinder them in any way on the job? Diabetic, will that be a problem for you while working here? And so on and so forth. Welcome to the thread. We all have similar if not identical stuttering issues here so don't hesitate to post. If you are ever feeling like you are in a particularly dark hole one day just put up a post, we are all here to help.
