I agree with the comment stating that it's angering to hear a criticism about yourself. I really don't like it when people ask me, 'have you tried anything to stop stuttering?' because it makes you feel incompetent. I don't like my stutter, so of course I'm defensive about it, and it's hard when someone calls out something you don't like about yourself. I also think I would be annoyed if someone claimed to have the secret to help me stop stuttering. It seems very... self-indulgent for them to think they hold this secret I haven't been able to find yet. Almost like, they want to 'fix you' because they think you're 'broken.' They might be trying to help, and context could be everything. If they're close to you, and offering advice, you know it's not coming from a bad place. However, if someone I didn't know called it out of the blue, I would also be annoyed.
