Been there a hundred times. I work in the media and call people every day. Think the worst I've gotten is when I call someone and I hear them hand over the phone to the person I'm looking for and tell them how messed up I sound. There was a situation with some internet installers a couple years back where they were on their way over and hadn't hung up the phone after telling me, so I got to listen to them talk to each other about how weird I sounded and how they couldn't wait to see what I looked like. Usually I don't care but I filed a complaint and got an apology for that one. Speaking of eyes, hope that goes well. Just got a checkup for blepharitis, which I've had for years, and the doctor went ham on my eyelids. Totally bruised my eye in the process. Blood red and swollen eyes now. Just gotta keep trudging to work despite the embarrassment.
