I think that man's entire strategy here is to exhaust you because he just can't say "oh ok, I was wrong, now I know better". To him it's more important to be in the right than to have an actual, meaningful conversation. What a fool!! The second he said something stupid you shoulda looked at him stupid and turned away from him!
