It’s not a movie or tv show but I listened to the Audio version of a book called Sadie by Courtney Summers. My wife and I started listening to it on a road trip because it was a murder mystery. To my surprise the main character is a PWS and it’s in 1st person. This was absolutely the most authentic fictional experience I’ve consumed with a PWS. It resonated with me greatly as it goes into the detail of blocking and trying to force words out all the while you’re thinking a thousand miles a minute and trying to get shit done. And it’s all inservice to the fiction, the book isn’t trying to prove a point about us, it’s a book about a girl who stutters and she’s trying to figure out who killed her sister. The stutter affects her journey, but doesn’t dominate it. I was moved to tears because of how accurate this representation was (for me at least), and I felt like my wife learned something about me that I couldn’t explain. Be forewarned though, this book has other MAJOR trigger warnings. I would definitely look into them if you plan on reading before you dive in.
