Somewhat tangential but I’ve always been annoyed with people saying that stutterers talk too fast or think too fast because the first one is not true for a lot of us and is basically rationalizing our stuffers as fluent speech patterns. Like I stumble over words when I talk fast and I stutter when I stutter. They are two different things. And the second one I don’t know if it’s true for anyone but I don’t think it is for me and it seems to be making our stutters into a beautiful tortured genius thing when in reality I don’t think it is and it’s definitely not poetic for me.
