I regularly teach classes in my field. I love teaching and wish I could do it all the time. I have a moderate stutter in regular conversation but find that in my “teaching mode” I do stutter less. I’d never say I’m fluent while teaching. I have my students fill out a survey at the end of every course, for about ten years now, and have only received positive feedback on the classes I’ve taught, teaching style, etc. Not once has stuttering been mentioned in those surveys. I say that not to pat myself on the back, but to say that if you enjoy teaching, don’t let your stutter hold you back. You can enjoy it and be an effective teacher with a stutter — and just by you being up front, teach a side of patience, understanding, and inclusiveness along the way. Best to you!
