Can I ask what kind of magnesium you use? As I tried some different forms and I noticed it made it worse actually.. I think malate or l-theoranate (Jarrow MagMind brand which crosses the blood brain barrier) work best for me. I initially had good results with magnesium oxide 250mg. I used 500mg and it was too strong for my stomach so it didn't absorb.. oxide is hard to absorb anyway. Magnesium citrate I had ok results with the Meridian brand but then felt worse when used Solgar. No rhyme or reason to it I guess! I think vitamin c maybe the catalyst though. Sorry this isn't very scientific.
