Practical application of the "Rib Breathing" technique: In this paragraph, you will learn the fuel to combat stuttering, which is proper breathing, specifically rib breathing. **What is rib breathing?** Rib breathing differs from abdominal breathing in that it shortens the time and exercises the diaphragm muscle, which used to contract when we stuttered. When the diaphragm muscle relaxes, there are no contractions, and speech comes out smoothly without stuttering. The goal of the exercise is relaxation. **How to do rib breathing?** Okay, go to a quiet place. I want you to prepare a chair, a belt (Jeans belt), and a mirror. You will tie the belt around the middle of your chest, so it's not too tight or too loose. Sit straight on the chair, so your back is not touching the chair, and place your hands on your knees. Then, put a mirror in front of you and make eye contact with yourself in the mirror (this step is important as it trains us to make eye contact with people), but for now just make eye contact with me in the video. Open your mouth slightly, take a full breath calmly into your chest, and immediately release it by opening your mouth a little more (breathing should be through the mouth). Exhale the air slowly and calmly, and the exhalation should be slightly slower than the inhalation. You will feel a tightness in the belt in your chest, indicating that your breathing is correct. Then, count 3 or 5 seconds, and repeat the exercise. **Note:** You must exhale the air directly, without leaving a gap between inhalation and exhalation. **Note 2:** Before taking a breath, make sure that your chest is empty of air. We do not want to take a breath on top of a breath. This point is called the ready position (deflating the chest), then count 3 seconds and take a breath. **Note 3:** During the first few days of training, you may feel dryness in your throat. Therefore, it is recommended to drink water during the breathing process. **Note 4:** Make sure that your back is straight and does not stick to the chair and your shoulders are down and make sure that you do not move your head, neck, face or body. And your stomach is not moving. *The goal of the exercise is to relax.* ***Place your hands on your ribs, and you will notice their movement, indicating that your breathing is correct.***
