That is devastating to hear, especially your social hardships. I've made similar observations about lacking communication skills and generally not being able to convey my message and my conversations generally taking a weird turn. How is your non-verbal communication like gestures and facial expressions? I find that stuttering often paralyses our minds so much that we don't pay attention at all to our non-verbal communication. So I've been trying to focus less on my fluency and pay more attention to my body as a whole while observing more the people's reactions. If our communication partners see us struggling they often feel uncomfortable as well. You can take a lot of that awkwardness away by behaving and reacting "normally". I find this made my conversations go more natural.
