Stuttering and the military / fighter jet pilot careers So I’m a stutterer, and I have a huge passion for helping people. I’ve always had dreams of serving.. the military, police, EMT or firefighter, even the national guard. I really want to enlist in the Air Force and/or become a fighter jet pilot. I’ve built a lot of confidence because I was made fun of a while ago and I didn’t handle it correctly, it ended up being traumatizing and I’ve never been the same. I’ve recovered to a point where I no longer care what people think of me. I’m fully willing to enlist. But what I’m questioning is if they will even let me in to begin with. If I’m in a war zone and I can’t effectively relay information, somebody could get hurt or die. Does anybody know if the military, specifically a fighter pilot position, would let a stutterer in? Or even an aviation career in general, especially talking over radios.
