I've met with a genetic counselor for it, and what she said is that there's not enough evidence that specific genes are causing it. Most likely, what you inherit is a predisposition for it to occur at some point in life. She gave me a dreadful 50/50 chance, though. Even if it was a blind estimate, I was hoping for less since I am expecting a girl, and statistically girls are less likely to stutter
