Seeing a speech therapist is always a good idea if you want to become more fluent. There are a lot of different therapy approaches out there, stretching words (also called prolonged speech) is one of them. I would definitely not add any humming because the aim is to sound more natural, and not add something to your speech that will sound odd. Yep, tattooing your fluency method on your skin is definitely one way to remember to use it but pretty soon there will be a much better (and less painful) solution: we are developing a Fitbit-type belt that is worn around the chest and communicates with an app on your smartphone. The app teaches a fluency technique similar to prolonged speech. The device records breathing and speaking patterns and gives real-time feedback to the user to encourage him to use his technique, to remind him to practice and to generally encourage and motivate.
