I think most people are just trying to find some sort of way to connect with you and probably aren't trying to be condescending even if in the moment it feels that way. PWS are only 1% of the world population and you and (insert celebrity) may be the only people they know who stutter (or used to stutter) so they find it interesting and I guess assume you would too without knowing all the intricacies of stuttering. A few weeks ago my boss was telling she liked the comedian Drew Lynch and thought of me. I didn't really think much of it other than she was trying to connect with me in some way. I've seen a few of his videos on youtube and thought he's pretty good but other than that I didn't follow him closely.
