>emdr therapy Had to look that one up, since I never heard of it. I think it's fairly easy to see you're probably better off staying away from that. Also, if you think you might be in a position where you can get your mum to read something, do send her in the direction of various texts discussing possible causes for stutter. A sort of "mental contagion" is not mentioned anywhere, as far as I can recall. If you can't get her to not make you do something in particular about it, you could always suggest a regular speech therapist, since that is indeed the regular approach to stutter management. - At any rate, my parents have never been anything but understanding. I was sort of fortunate that my mom used to stutter when she was young, but she was able to work through it. Once it surfaced in me, she knew what route to take to make me understand it and deal with it.
