Definitely a few times people have thought I was drunk because of the stutter, especially in college. In high school, I went to the nurse’s office because of a headache. My stutter was especially bad that I had trouble with my birthday. The nurse thought I was having a stroke or something so she called the ambulance. I was brought to the hospital with a ‘confusional migraine.’ I was so stressed I was having trouble responding to any questions that was making excuses and going along with it. Was out of the hospital shortly, but boy was that a stressful sequence of events.
