Don't panic! But this is not an easy situation we're dealing with. Everybody's got SOMETHIN to worry about. No one is perfectly healthy, perfectly intelligent, smart, etc. It's a burden, but also a HUGE opportunity for self-development. A huge opportunity to build character, patience, conscientiousness, and a lot more. That girl insulting you is the dick, not you. Having a speech impediment is not a curse that will prevent you from finding happiness, even though it feels like it a *lot*. It might just be a permanent obstacle, and that's ok. It's not fair, but it's ok. No one is burden free even if they act like they are. I act like I am sometimes, but I'm not. We can't let the stutter get the best of us, dwell on it, and feel sorry for ourselves. If your child stutters he'll be the luckiest stutterer in the world because his parent will be his best mentor. You could teach your child so much and they'd feel so much better not being alone. You'd be their champion. I look forward to something like that myself. My experiences can help a lot of people and so can yours, and it feels really good to help.
