I was also told that i would grow out of it. My parents were always very understanding, they tried to help me as much as they possibly could. I was in speech therapy that I got through school for a couple of years which helped me A LOT, not with my speech, but with accepting that i stutter and that its a part of my life and won't change. So my advice is that you always should be as understanding as possible, and maybe ask the school if they have any connections with speech therapists or anything like that, as it really helps with the mental part of it. I wish you the best!
