It got easier for me at least. I've been stuttering since I learned to talk beyond simple phrases I was about 3ish. I was basically mute from grade 8 to grade 12. Not because of anxiety but because talking just wasn't worth the effort. I didn't have the tools to control my speech yet and puberty hit me like a truck. In my early 20s I got out on my own and learned some big lessons. As my confidence grew my willingness to speak increased but my control was still basically zero. In my 30s I got some help that actually helped. Speech pathologists who specialize in stuttering are worth their weight in gold. I learned to own my stutter, that was a crap ton of work, once I stopped fighting it then I could use the speech tools. I work at it every day to keep on top of everything. I still stutter, I still have hard days, new people still don't know what to do. But I can also say exactly what I want to in any situation. Once my focus shifted from perfect speech to good communication everything got better. Hang in there, it does get better.
