You don't need to defend yourself. You need to let it go. Right there, in the moment. Other people don't define you. It's your problem that you are thinking about this 24/7. If you must think about it, then do that. Decide how much time you're going to allocate thinking about it. 5 minute, 5 hours, whatever you think is reasonable. Then take that time and do just that. Think about it. Do nothing else for that period other than dwell on it. Be thorough. Give it every consideration. But when the time has expired, that's it. You don't ever think on it again. Your life isn't ruined. We all have our ups and downs. But it takes work to get through the low points. Carrying something from two weeks ago around with you is just weighing you down. Cut yourself some slack.
