Hey man I know how much anxiety a stutter can give you but in my experience You just gotta step out and take a leap. I’ve been stuttering since I can remember and it’s really affected every aspect of my life, (phone calls are the worst) but over the past few years (I’m 32 now) I’ve learned that I can’t let stuttering win. I’ve always been social and got married at a very young age so I guess I kinda had to put my fear of stuttering on the back burner and let me tell you, once you overcome the fear you’ll feel so free. What usually works for me is breaking the ice. I’ll start most conversations with a little light hearted joke (I’ll say hey I’m just letting you know I have a stutter so for the sake of your time if I get stuck on a word I’ll just spell it out for you bc if not we are gonna be here a while lol ) that usually gets people to laugh and it always eases the tension for me and believe it or not I will go on to stutter less in that conversation. I know this is probably all easier said than done and I’m certainly not a speech therapist but it’s worked for me. Are you a gamer? If so what do you play? Do you have a gamer tag? Maybe we can game together sometime. Good luck on your journey and always remind yourself that you’re awesome and stuttering should never take away your shine. 💪
