Does anyone else not want to disclose your stutter when you meet people? I know a lot of people encourage disclosing your stutter when you first meet people, and honestly I get why people do it, but for me that would just make me feel so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I just want to be able toto meet people and get to know them like everyone else does without throwing in “btw I have a stutter” right away. I feel like that would kind of kill the vibe and make it feel so awkward and unnatural. It would make me feel like I’m at a formal interview or something. I prefer to just let people figure out I stutter through talking to me and that just be that. If my stutter comes up naturally later in a conversation, that’s fine, but I don’t want it to be the first thing I say when meeting people. I feel like having it be the first thing I say makes it seem like I’m defining myself by my stutter.
