Yeah, god forbid that you actually take the opportunity to empathize. The last notion is clearly connected to the main point of the article: idea of the everyday life and how we take things for granted as long as they function. Speech doesn't function for us. A lot of other things doesn't function for other people. If you agreed with what he said up until the last paragraph, and then stopped because of some ridiculous notion that anything that can be construed as socially progressive is equal to "SWJ drivel", then you're really saying that your struggles are more valid and deserve more attention than those of other marginalized groups. And that's really signifying an astounding lack of humility.
