I went to a very intensive speech therapy program a couple years ago, and the thing that helped me the most out of anything was when an older, quite successful gentleman who was also there with me something to thr extent of "you are an extrovert. I know this for a fact because you're here right now, trying to improve. If you didn't want to talk to anyone anyway, it wouldn't matter. So go out there and do it, regardless of what this program does for you". That really stuck with me.
