Trial by fire is the best cure, I agree. Even if your stuttering doesn't improve, it stops hurting. I agree with the tough love approach as well. I think, beyond stuttering, a lot of people are held down by do-gooders and coddlers, sirens who will absolve them of responsibility and caress them during failure. They think they are so helpful and empathetic, but they are drug dealers.
