A speech impediment has nothing to do with your competence or ability to perform your job (unless it is, for example, a lecturer position where you’d have to publicly speak 95% of the time). So don’t be afraid to disclose your stuttering issue to your employer if you feel you require reasonable accommodation. It’s illegal for your employer to retaliate by firing you as it’d be a wrongful dismissal and discrimination.
