Does anyone else not stutter in formal situations? I don't stutter in job interviews, doctors appointments, debates or formal presentations. Anything non casual, if I really focus I don't stutter. I have to talk like a robot monotonously but still it works. I've built up various techniques and rythyms of speaking over the years specifically for this purpose and so far it seems to have worked. It also gives me immense relief knowing I'm not being turned down for jobs because of my stutter. However I've noticed I almost always stutter when I don't think about controlling it in casual situations or if I express any emotions like anger or excitement. That's when it's worse. It sucks cause I feel like people don't seem to respect people who stutter and if I try and treat it as a formal thing and talk montonously people dont think of me as a fun person to be around. But yeah, im still pretty thankful I don't stutter in formal situations bso at least I have that.
