I'm considering dropping a class because it's very speech heavy and has mandatory presentations. Thoughts? I have a history class this semester and it's _very_ speech heavy: there are participation points for speaking and all that. On the first day, she was calling on people to read written speeches aloud and I was dying internally and having flashbacks to being called on in high school. I just went over the syllabus and there are presentations at the end of the semester. I really would much rather not do a presentation. I can easily drop this class and go for a different professor or even a different class. I know that I shouldn't avoid these situations, but I also feel like this class would figuratively kill me. The people in the class don't seem very kind and although the class is fairly small, it gives me anxiety just thinking about presenting in front of them. The class itself seems very challenging (300-level) and although I'm not anywhere near a history major, I feel like it would be rewarding just for the learning opportunity. The professor seems very kind and intelligent, and has been rated highly on ratemyprofessor. What would you do in this situation?
