Another comment: as a child and adult, I stutter more around family. It’s like they can see my weakness and I do let my guard down. One thing that has helped me tremendously is confidence. Just simply believing in myself. Believing that I can do anything others can. If a child feels they cannot do what everyone else can do, confidence may be low. My parents believed in me and allowed me to realize I’m just as good as anyone else (sports, good grades, etc). Hence, confidence as an adult.
