This may sound odd, but allowing myself to ruminate over those experiences (a bit) actually helps me get through them. If I brush them off too quickly, it's almost like I'm not really dealing with It or acknowledging how hard/difficult something was for me. I find that I need to do that, to allow myself to feel how I feel. Doing that for a brief time helps me move on.
