I have been through a few of these and I can say they absolutely don't tackle the emotional aspects of stuttering. I am still working on that. Physically? Yes these programs can change your stutter....for a time until it eventually reverts back to the old way of speaking. I would seriously advise caution on taking one. Everybody's experience is different and I know people who have found success with it. Though to be honest, nobody knows what happens behind closed doors. I've spoken to a few people who have had success with them but I don't know how their speech actually is when they are not talking to a fellow stutterer. Spoken with some on the phone and their speech sounded fantastic. Could never even tell they had a stutter. But I wonder if and how their speech changes once they get off that phone. Nobody knows this because we can't be with these people 24/7. I can just say that after taking some speech programs, I can give off the appearance of 100% fluency talking to another stutterer. Talking to somebody else? Forget it. I think it's great that you are seeking to do something about your speech but just be warned of the emotional toll it has after a while trying to keep up with the at home practices. They do take their toll. Best of luck!
