Listen bro…I can tell you first hand that the Dave McGuire Program has worked wonders for me. They have a self help book on Amazon called Beyond Stuttering: The Art of getting good at the Sport of Speaking. The book will call you to be ballsy, and you will have to be consistent, but been doing it for a few years now, and over time, the amount of work you have to put in decreases a lot. The way I see it, Stuttering is largely a conflict with your own identity. Something deeply within you is confused about who you are and allowed to be. About what you should do with your power, emotions, and energy. This is why most people who stutter do so much on their own name. Your name encapsulates every single part of you that your brain associates with YOU. That’s why when you say your name it shocks your nervous system so much and causes your muscles to tense, and thus stutter. A lifetime of holding your expression back and speaking for the purpose almost solely of performing for the listener only exasperates this. There are other resources really good resources I could provide. One major major one is the book Redefining Stuttering by John Harrison. You can find the book for free on freestutteringbooks.com Let me tell you one way in which you are advantaged over the average speaker. If you can become conscious of the things I’m telling you above, you can take control of your life where in many ways you will surpass the average speaker in area such as confidence, courage, intentionality, seeking life purpose, health, etc. Let anxiety, tension, and confusion be the guide to the changes and understanding you need in your personal life. I don’t exactly know what you need on a personal level. Maybe you need assertiveness training. Maybe you need to repair broken relationships or resentment in your family that are causing you to be tense. Maybe you need to start boxing to find a way to feel powerful and masculine because somebody physically harmed you in the past. I don’t know you but stuttering I believe often comes from self-preservation that was caused or at least exasperated by something painful in the past. This journey is abstract bro, so make it your own. Stay up and encouraged bro🤙🏼
