Doctors don't know jack about stuttering. Hell, most speech therapists don't know much. You need to find a qualified speech therapy with a speciality in stuttering who you feel comfortable with. If they just wanna teach you techniques and don't really talk to you and get know you and your stutter, I'd say move on to another. In my experience it's pretty tough to find a good slp for stuttering who gets it.
