Has anyone else suddenly gained a stutter for no apparent reason? I'm a young adult who only gained a stutter two years ago. It only consistently appears around a specific friend group (they're also the only people I'd consider myself close to.). It was REALLY bad at the beginning, but now it's just random as to whether it's bad, moderate, or not there at all. I can't find a pattern. Outside of them, it's very rare for it to pop up around others and, if it does, it doesn't last for long (unless I'm talking about said stutter, then it lasts awhile. It'll also pop up occasionally around people I'm rather comfortable with). It drives me crazy that I don't know why it started. The only causes I can find online are either severe brain damage (didn't happen) or extreme emotional trauma, which I'm 90% sure did not happen (here's one thing I can think of that happened if I squint, but it's a stretch for "emotional trauma"). Has anyone else had even a somewhat similar experience? (For the record, I was born with apraxia of speech, but I never had a stutter due to it. Nor is it inconsistent like my stutter is. I am 95% sure they are unrelated)
