The first day of class when they made us introduce ourselves I told everyone I had a speech impediment so everyone in my cohort would be aware of it! Of course I was able to tell by their body language that they were getting impatient at times. One of my professors would start to assume my words for me so I can get my across point faster but I wouldnt let it bother me and still took my time saying what I was gonna say. Either way I automatically held them to a higher standard than the typical person. They're IN the medical field after all. I'm a very confronting person, and I was about to tell my classmates who laughed at me, "If you can't handle a stutter can you even handle being a nurse?" And honestly, my entire life, giving presentations was the most nerve racking thing ive done. Id sweat, shake and turn red just by the thought of it being my turn and how much ill stutter, but eventually being around the same people for a long time thats the last thing on your mind :)
