IDEA - Reducing the feeling of isolation derived from the experience of stuttering I have an idea. I don't know if other people who stutter would appreciate this, but I've found myself thinking about this during this time of social distancing as a result of COVID-19. One of the most challenging aspects of stuttering is the feeling of isolation. This feeling will always be there, but I think it can be mitigated. My idea that I think would help this is having a "newsletter" for people who stutter, about people who stutter, to share about themselves. I envision it as a series of updates from the subscribers which would include a photo, first name, and country where they live, then they can share anything they want with others who stutter. This "newsletter" would not be a place to gripe/complain/try to gain likes/etc, but a place to genuinely share something. I obviously have not thought this through, it's just an idea. One criticism could be - why don't you just use facebook? ---I would respond that the immediacy of facebook doesn't allow for that feeling of community that makes you feel connected. It's too fast paced. Being part of a "newsletter" makes you put in a little bit of work, and makes you think about what is most important to share since the "newsletter" would only be sent out a few times per year. Anyways, I'm just thinking aloud and would love to get some feedback.
