We get it. We’ve all gone through this and still do to some extent. As we get older we tend to manage it better through strategies and self acceptance etc… but for most of us it never really goes away. What works for some, doesn’t work for others. There’s no magic solution that fits all. I recommend you start a journal on your speech performance and take note of what makes it worse for you on a daily basis. Journal everything, from your sleep quality patterns, energy levels, activities, food/beverages that may exacerbate your fluency etc…. Once you reflect on all these things, you’re able to better understand what affects you most and then you can take necessary actions to cut out those things which make your fluency worse. The phone is kryptonite for us all due to the anticipatory anxiety around our stuttering, and somehow not being face to face with someone over the phone exacerbates it more for us. You’re not alone.
