Hey, I really hope things get better soon. A positive outlook on your future can help fluency. Feed your mind with positivity and your body will react well to it. Though I know it can be so fear inducing during difficult times. Right now is your opportunity to separate yourself from caring about the negative opinions of others, and become the person that you can become. Other people mock you because they aren’t realizing their own potential so unconsciously they use you as an attempt to boost their own ego. But you, on the other hand, are in a place where you have the choice to control what you can control. And as you separate from others, becoming the individual you are, and feeling confidence in yourself, fluency will follow. If you can just be vulnerable and tell others that you stutter, and stutter openly, you are already doing what the average person doesn’t do, and that’s be vulnerable. Before you know it you’ll be like the warrior going to slay the dragon, and everybody else that mocked you will be sitting there wondering how you, of all people, became so powerful. Just like the story of David and Goliath in the Bible. I would really recommend the Dave McGuire course. They have an inexpensive self help book on Amazon called “Beyond Stammering: The Mcguire Program for getting good at the Sport of Speaking.” You can have the book downloaded onto your phone in minutes if you get the Amazon Kindle app. The book will go through psychological reasons for stuttering, give you a breathing technique, and inspire you to get out and practice speaking. The program will be fear inducing but use the people closest to you for support. Keep practicing the techniques and follow what the book says. Then I recommend reading “Redefining Stuttering” by John Harrison, someone who stuttered for many years and was part of the National Stuttering Association for many years. You can find a free link to the book if you google the title. If you can’t find it I will help send you a link. I was surprised to find the book for free after seeing it was sold out on Amazon.
