Totally agree with this comment. Interestingly there have been trials with neuroleptics/antipsychotics which came to the conclusion that taking them has a diminishing effect on stuttering. However neuroleptics have(very) severe side effects, therefore taking them to diminish stuttering would not be advisable, even though stuttering can have a severely negative effect on one’s mental state. What I’m trying to say is that just as with antidepressants which also have side effects and do not cure depression in any way or form, a medication against stuttering (if there ever is one) would probably also have side effects so that we would have to contemplate whether or not these side effects are worth the diminishing effect.
