IF YOU DONT LISTEN WHO WILL?! I’m sure all of you who have looked for tips on how to reduce stuttering has heard multiple times to “read aloud and record your voice”. I for one always hated this advice because I’ve always felt like I hated my voice due to my stutter even on snapchats or other recordings I’d always cringe at myself and speech (also bc I’m lowkey cringy anyways but that not what we’re talking about rn lmao). Today I decided to give the vocal recording a chance and I’m honestly SHOOK with the outcome. I’ve noticed my speech really isn’t as horrible as my ego portrays it to be and in time I may actually develop better rhythmic skills while speaking. It’s very important to give things a chance especially when it comes to your wellbeing and personal growth. I’m currently 23yr old and this is my first time giving recordings a chance since developing a stutter at Eight years old. Long post short: If you do not give yourself a chance to be heard even if you’re the one listening to yourself, how do you expect others to listen to you? I’ve also learned others naturally want to hear what you have to say even if you stutter trying but you have to give them the chance! Whoever comes across this keep speaking and do not allow your stutter to silence you, you deserve to be heard.
